To think studio heads were ever against the idea of Jeff Daniels playing Harry Dunne is absolutely nuts to me. The chemistry between these two is incredible.

One of the great jokes of all time. Carrey protesting that Daniels' hands are freezing while he's strangling him because he withheld the extra gloves. Brilliant!

I just skimmed through Dumb and Dumber To and now that I watch this, I realize nothing will ever capture this perfection of this film. The scenes weren't forced. They weren't just stupid. They were naive and perceived themselves as normal. And their comedy was magnified by the fact that the cast didn't act as though they were in a comedy. They acted just like normal people, which made Harry and Lloyd more funny.

In the sequel, it was as if every extra and minor character in the film knew they were in a Dumb and Dumber sequel, and they tried to be comedic. And the scenarios were all too strange that it made Harry and Lloyd not look as funny. And we didn't get the payoff of seeing normal people react to these bizarre characters.

About 1/4 of the gags worked in the sequel. The editing was too fast paced. The supporting roles were too much of character actors who were trying to be loud and funny. It was as if the script writer had only seen Dumb and Dumber once or twice.

This is hands down the greatest comedy of all time in my book. Just a perfect movie from start to finish.
