Thank you for putting this out, he's the best singer. I've been a fan since I was like 4, I would listen to the oldies station in California on a small radio, while doing my homework. When I was 16, I tried to go get married to Vegas, they didnt marry us, but my friends where 18, and they did.so, we went to park at the International Hotel after they got married. We bought champagne and celebrated on the back of the Hotel. When the bottles where empty I went to throw them to the dumpster. The doors opened and it was ELVIS.
We almost bumped into each other, we both said excuse me, and I saw his beautiful sky blue eyes. I stood there, he was 36 or so. I was 16 and shy, so I ran to the van, and told my friends. We tried to go get tickets for the next show, but was told it was sold out till 1974.. so, when he came to California in 76, I went to see him at the Anaheim stadium. All he'll broke lose there, cuz a soon as he started we all ran to the grass. LOVED IT!

I don't think Elvis had a strong bond with his dad but he definitely respected him. No doubt Vernon Presley was very proud of his son.
During my era of 50s and 60s in the south, mom's were housewives and cared for the children; dad's worked long hrs to support the family. Those were good days...thankful I saw Elvis in 1971, I was 19. A performance that will be embedded in my mind until I die.

CBS filmed shows in Omaha on June 19 and Rapid City on June 21st. The producers shot fan interviews and location footage in Lincoln, Cincinnati and Indianapolis (Indy was actually Elvis' final concert, but the crew did not shoot the show)

Jerry Hopkins wrote in 1981 that Elvis performed so poorly in Omaha that the producers had to use Rapid City footage almost exclusively. Only "My Way" could be salvaged from Omaha, he said. Jerry turned out to be quite wrong. "My Way" is from Rapid City. A number of performances in the special and on the soundtrack album came from Omaha, including "How Great Thou Art, " "Teddy Bear/Don't Be Cruel, " "Early Mornin' Rain, " and most of "Can't Help Falling In Love." They also interspersed footage from both shows on "See See Rider." Elvis actually stopped, mid-song, in Rapid City and picked up from a spot where he felt he'd "missed a note." The producers mixed in some Omaha footage to smooth things out.


How can you spot the visual differences from the two shows? In Omaha, the band stands on a blue, carpeted riser. Elvis hair is piled into the "classic Elvis" look in Rapid City. His bangs are combed straight back and sprayed into place. His hair is more "down" in Omaha.

Watch as Elvis takes his final bows for more mixed footage. Charlie Hodge grabs his jacket and heads for the limo, ahead of Elvis. Look carefully and you'll see both of Charlie's exits.

I believe this footage will never be released officially, as long as Lisa and Priscilla are alive. Same goes for the ban on touring upstairs at Graceland. Lisa only owns a small share of the business. The home and the artifacts belong to her. But she's a limited partner where business is concerned.

For now, this is the best quality of the special I've seen, and it's great to have the original commercials. Pirated footage of the nearly complete shows are widely available, albeit in less-than-ideal quality.
