“Do we leave Middle Earth to its fate? Do we let them stand alone?”

The look Elrond gave that painting, a perfect depiction of man still fighting, even against all odds. And he is reminded of man’s single greatest strength. Their will.

When your mother in law is immortal, a telepath, can read your mind and reach you at any momment anywhere, poor elrond, no wonder he wanted to leave middle earth

Fun fact: Galadriel's words in Elvish at the beginning are actually the same words from the very beginning of the trilogy:
"The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air."

"In his heart, Frodo begins to understand: the quest will claim his life." Sam's devotion to Frodo was the wild card, something that not even the ring could corrupt. Galadriel saw into Sam's heart when they met, but she had also said that "foretelling was in vain". In other sense, though, it DID claim Frodo's life. It cost him his innocence and gave him wounds that would never heal. His only hope for peace was travelling to the West.

The way Sauron is portrayed and spoken of in the films is almost Lovecraftian. Larger than life and beyond comprehension.

It’s that last line she says to Elrond, “Do we let them stand alone, ” that really hits the scene for me. You can hear the sheet desperation and pleading in her voice, essentially begging Elrond to provide some provision that could hopefully turn the tide even if it is the end for the Elves. Absolutely stellar on the actress’ part.

"For Sauron will have dominion over all life on this earth, even to the ending of the world." That line always gives me chills. One of the most masterful parts of LOTR is the power-balancing of Sauron: he is the strongest thing outside of Valinor, yes, but at no point does he seem overpowered. This makes his threat all the more meaningful. He is older than the world and will last longer than the world; the image of a potentially successful Sauron brooding in his tower over a dead planet for endless millennia is a terrifying thought.

I don't know about you, but I felt that this was when the story, the entire trilogy hit rock bottom. Utter dispair and seeming hopelessness. Great cinema.

The way Galadriel narrates it makes it sound majestic and alluring

The nice touch there of Elrold looking at Isildur on the mural, knowing of course that he was at that same battle.

Also, the decision to give Galadriel that distinctive light in her eyes. Such a small touch, but it makes her look otherworldly. Superb stuff.

0:01 - That feeling when you see your daughter for the last time and your mother-in-low calls you just after that

I never knew until now that Galadriel is Elrond's Mother In Law.

Cate Blanchett is Hugo Weaving's Mother In Law hahahaha

I love how Galadriel invokes the feeling of dread and doom in this scene! One of the most memorable in the film.

“For Sauron will have dominion…. Even until the ending of the world” that speech gave me SHIVERS on what could’ve happened. The way Galadriel delivers that with certainty is amazing

0:29 the timing of the music when Galadriel says "Isengard has been unleashed." I can feel the horror of the ten thousand uruk hai marching their way to Helm's Deep. It takes me back to when I first watched and felt the horror of that scene when I was 5 years old.

This is simply the most bone-chilling moment in cinematic history. "For Sauron will have dominion over all life on earth - even unto the ending of the world."

the young captain of gondor has but to extend his hand, take the ring for his own, and the world will fall. man that line hits hard. this whole monologue is amazing.

Nothing against the actress portraying Galadriel in Amazon’s Rings of Power, but Cate Blanchett is the only Galadriel I recognize.
