What does it mean to be "born again in the spirit"?

In “Catholic Central: Baptism,” Kai and Libby look at the first sacrament, which is common to all Christians (Jesus was also baptized). Even outside of Christianity – and often in movies and TV -- entering into, and emerging from, water is a universal symbol of renewed life, a way of being born again “of water and the spirit.”

Does the priest say the same thing at an adult baptism that he says at an infant baptism, which is, "So-and-so, I baptize you"? Or does he say at the adult baptism, "So-and-so, *based on your profession of faith, * I baptize you"?

Chaldean Catholics take conformation and baptism at the same time on the same day

Do you have any advice on what to say to the Christians that use scripture to say baptism has to be with the formula in the Name of Jesus. What is the Catholic understanding of repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus. I know it does not mean the formula for baptism is In the Name of Jesus.

"Jesus answered: Amen, amen say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5

Generally love these videos for my middle school students. However, commenting about Confirmation, Libby said it's a time for them to make a "personal testimony on their own behalf." This might happen for some but it is not the purpose or function of this Sacrament. Confirmation does not depend on a person's testimony. This kind of comment just leads people to think of Confirmation as something THEY do instead of something GOD does. This is a serious problem. This kind of comment also calls into question the Eastern Catholic practice of giving all three Sacraments of Initiation to babies, a practice which is perfectly valid.

Catholics weren’t around when Jesus was. How could Jesus institute sacraments written in the 1500s?

The basic teaching in this is very good but I would rather hear the message without the acting bits in between. They are unnecessary & take from the whole thing in my opinion. They trivialise the importance of the Sacrament spiritually in some way. They blocked me from sharing it with other groups.

Not bad, but what you call sprinkling is "infusion". Sprinkling exists, but is not used by the Catholic Church.

That's incorrect 100%, you do not need to be baptised to enter the kingdom of heaven. Ask the theif who was on the Cross next to Jesus.

I personally feel a strong relation to this video.

I grew up in a very Catholic household where the values held by the religion were ingrained into me.

Anyway I relate to the part where the priest touched the baby because I was touched by a priest.

The old covenant was based on the blood of the lambs and goats, the new covenant is based on the blood of Jesus Christ:
"For this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins." (Matthew 26:28)

Water do not wash your sins, it's blood of Christ that clean from all unrighousness:
"Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
" (Revelation 1'5)
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" (Eph 1, 7)
"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." (Hebrews 9'22)
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood." (Rom 3, 24-25)
"Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate." (Hebrews 13, 12)
"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, " (Hebrews 13:20)

Please, don't harm your viewers with the incorrect teaching. Best regards.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10, 9-10)
