I luckily bought a system just before the thing but now it's time to upgrade my system once again and I don't like the look of the prices even though they are better than the absolute peak.

New games are going over 100GB so 1TB storage isn't enough. Further 2TB SSD cost just $100.
The over 2TB crowd likely collects music, photos or video files.

Storage was much cheaper last quarter, at least for SSDs, and I heard the reason why it's now 50% more now is due to the AI models requiring massive space, just another reason to despise it.

Only have 13TB at present. Though I've had some of those disks (still working) for over 20 years, and those one have stuff I don't care if the disk dies suddenly of course...as it'll happen eventually. So it's more a reflection of just not throwing out disks, than a desire to have a lot of storage.

ali express is amazing for purchasing hardware except for graphic cards and psu, as a latino where everything is fucking expensive in my country, it has been a blessing. I build my pc with almost all parts from there and I also got 3 cheap mini pc for the office that I work.

It also helps to use linux since is lightweight, for small business is a blessing, once you are done with the hell configuring everything.

Just as the Covid price hike started, I happen to have bought a second-hand RX570 for €150.
It has served me well, then got passed down to my brother as I got a good deal on a Vega 64 from someone I somewhat knew.
Only now are we going to upgrade his card for his birthday, I will be sticking to my Vega 64 for a bit longer.
My CPU is a Ryzen 3 3200G, it's slow but fast enough for me still, my brother has a Ryzen 5 5600 we choose since it's future-proof yet cheap-ish.
My system only has 32GiB of RAM since I was given leftover DDR4 sticks, thanks to this my brother got a free upgrade to 24GiB in total.
Storage wise, both my systems run an NVMe and SATA drive in RAID0, a silly setup made for cost cutting reasons while working around hardware support limitations.
Which in turn got my brother a free NVMe upgrade, as I had to shuffle those drives around as the M.2 SSD I bought only supported NVMe, while I expected it to be SATA.
Aside from my brother's GPU, neither of us are feeling the need to upgrade, though I am feeling the age of my hardware more at this point.
