👉Learn the basics of factoring quadratics by using different techniques. Some of the techniques used in factoring quadratics include: when the coefficient of the squared term is not 1. In that case, we first write the quadratic in standard form, next we multiply the coefficient of the squared term and the constant term and then find the factors of the product whose sum gives the coefficient of the linear term. Thus the factored form is of the form (x + a)(x + b) where a, b are the factors of the product of the coefficient of the squared term and the constant term whose sum gives the coefficient of the linear term.
Another technique is when the coefficient of the squared term is 1. In that case, we first write the quadratic in standard form, then, we find the factors of the constant term whose sum gives the coefficient of the linear term. Thus the factored form is of the form (x + a)(x + b) where a, b are the factors of the constant term whose sum gives the coefficient of the linear term.
Another technique is when the quadratic is of the form (x^2 - a^2), i.e. when we have difference of two squares. In that case, the factored form is of the form (x - a)(x + a), where -a and a are the square roots of a^2.
