The Queen reacts to Meghan and Harry interview, says issues raised including race 'concerning'

The Royal Family has officially ended its silence to address allegations of racism and unfair treatment levelled by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their “tell-all” interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night. In a statement to media released Monday, the Royal Family said they were “saddened” by the allegations made in the interview, and found the claims about racism “concerning.”

During the interview, the couple accused the Royal Family of failing to protect them from racist attacks in the British media and alleged someone within the family had asked about their child Archie’s potential skin colour before his birth. The couple also described difficulties with leaving their royal duties behind in the interview.

A statement released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of The Queen said the issues raised, “particularly that of race,” are concerning, but added that “while some recollection may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.” Redmond Shannon has more details.

I don’t think that what happened is solely HRM’s fault. I am not blaming her and I’m not mad at her or the family. I think that we live in a world that recognizes racism more and that it needs to be fought. I will be standing in an in between position on choosing meghan or HRM. Let’s use logic and deduction. She said the conversation took place in the context of “he won’t have title prince 🤴 or have security “ and in that same context there were questions about his skin... well if it’s not the queen or her husband we have two left ... who has the power to remove security and make designs about titles ? Charles. He did it to prince Andrews daughters it has to be him. And or both him and William or him and someone else ... that being said why can’t they resolve this privately I think it adds more “damage” to everyone by not saying who. If your going to say someone said that say who or don’t say it publicly because now they are all painted with that brush. Last why doesn’t Harry explain anything to Megan ie. protocols for who is prince title and security etc that could be part of the explanation and he sits silent. They left their position and therefore lost those benefits from “the firm”. If it’s directly related to race then say it plainly don’t leave people guessing . If not His desire to protect Diana has now overruled any loyalty to his family and he is not thinking long term.
