Chaco Culture National Historical Park is one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in North America, with impressive structures that reveal the architectural and engineering skills of the ancient Ancestral Puebloans. The centerpiece, Pueblo Bonito, is a massive multi-story “Great House” with over 600 rooms and unique circular kivas used for ceremonial purposes. The meticulously constructed masonry of these buildings, some towering up to five stories, demonstrates advanced techniques and architectural planning uncommon for the time. Exploring the Great Houses and learning about the intricate construction techniques offers visitors an inspiring look into the lives of the Chacoans.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Chaco Canyon is its astronomical alignments.
