One of my cats randomly disappeared for five days a while back. Put up posters etc. only to find him laying in the kitchen waiting for food the next morning.

My Taz had the same setup. He didn't come home one day, and I haven't seen him since. That was back in March. I haven't given up hope yet though, and I'm glad Ralph made it back home.

The LEDs are not only good for safety and to stop a dosing cat getting stepped on, but it could be a good light source just in case you needed to go down/up - stairs at night, because it is a dim light and you wouldn't have to turn on the main lights and get blinded.

When my cat was first let out, we put butter on his feet so he can sniff it and return back home.
