My grandma got me into ff... when i was 2-3 (1991-92), my mom and i lived with my grandparents for a short while following her separation from my dad. Sometimes, my cousins would come over and they would huddle around the TV and take turns playing FF1, passing the stick when they died. I didnt know it then, but my grandma was a BEAST at final fantasy... so much so, that she played AND beat FF1-6 before 7 even came out.

Thats when i started playing. 1999 on ps1, ff7 was (and still is because of the nostalgia) the greatest game i had ever played. I maxxed out the timer on my first playthrough, idek how many hours i had on it (maybe 300+, it took me over a year to beat with no help), but i VIVIDLY remember the last save point before you fight sephiroth, making sure i had all my ducks in a row to show my grandma that i beat a final fantasy game, just like her.
That xmas came, and they came to visit. She immediately came up to my room and watched me completely demolish the end of the game, and afterward she gave me a hug i will remember forever, and told me she was proud of me. I was 11.

Fast forward 24 years, my grandma passed away last year at 74 from cancer. I never got to say goodbye, and she never got to meet my kids.... The feeling of her being gone eats at my soul, but her memory lives through the music of the game for me. Since her passing, i have shown these mixes to my kids (they absolutely love them), and one day they will be shown the FF series.

I love the sound effects from the OG and Remake. Cloud saying "it has been 5 years" and Tifa's shaking bottle sound effect in the PS1 version, wonderful additions :)

I only searched for some FF7 LoFi out of curiosity because one of my favourite youtubers just started an original FF7 let's play.
I was not prepared to hear the prelude right away. What a blast of nostalgia! I wish you all a happy new year, may 2024 be the best year you'll have so far.

This is truly incredible. The attention to detail from incorporating everything from the original menu selection noises, the enemy defeat noises at the end of battle and all those little sound bites just masterfully and tastefully added to create another layer of depth to each track. This is also on top of the general excellent production techniques, great mastering and... well I could go on! Amazing work, I have had this on repeat for days now haha
