Stockton Rush was the Timothy Treadwell of the sea. Someone who was overly ambitious, disregarded safety protocols, thought he "knew more" than the experts, and was ultimately killed by the very thing he claimed to be the master of.

Ocean Gate CEO famous quote : a) You want safety, stay in bed, b) Government is out to stifle Ocean Gate from scientific innovation with more safety regulations, c) Fund spent on safety feature is a waste of company resources. 😵‍💫😵😵‍💫

Of course they knew what was coming. One of the last messages they sent was about dropping weights to get back up. That is proof that they knew that they had a problem.

That is a pretty good size piece of it resting at the bottom of the drink. Seems if it imploded like they say, this wouldn't be down there. I have no doubt a year from now this story may change to say those who passed away felt every bit of it. So dumb to go down that deep in something that looks like a soda pop can.

So the co founder died from his own creation. He put his faith in himself and God said you shouldve put faith in me. I guarentee you that Stockton is in Hell for his negligence

This and spaceX are good examples of why the silicon valley mindset of move fast, break things doesn't work outside computers. Specialized life-supporting equipment is not something you can release with a few bugs to be patched in the future. At least the FAA is always breathing down spaceX's neck and that's what has kept them in line, even though they keep pressing on with that stupid starship idea.
