Your explanation of turning the left elbow out and turning the right elbow under to shallow the club in transition has really helped me achieve solid contact, By combining this move with right side bend to get my shoulders turning on plane have become my two key swing thoughts Thank you

So well explained., Clay. I spent a few years figuring this out on my own, even having lessons from three different teachers. None of them could explain it as well as you. My mental key on the swing is to point my left shoulder to the ball, and rotate around my spine on the downswing. The hips turn too. This is my mental picture that works for me. Seeing your arms spread prior to the downswing is helpful, too. Thanks.

This video is one of the best for me that I’ve seen in a while. Really good explanation and drills/thoughts on the subject. I instantly saw it fix a lot of my bad habit I’ve developed recently - ie I’ve been more of a shoulder dropper instead of keeping the on the shoulder plane.

Awesome stuff!

Best golf instructor online. Have been a fan of this site for years and my handicap has gone from 14 to 8 as a result.

I’m a low handicapper and have been struggling off the tee recently. Watched you video and have always subscribed to Hogan’s right elbow move and frankly, until I watched your video and never trusted opening the face. Confirmed on the range and hit 100% fairways the next round! Man, what a more enjoyable game when you’re hitting consistently.

You're videos are great, I keep sending them to my high handicap friends-subtle hint, lol. For the first time I'm shallowing the club, creating more ball compression and getting distance (at 50yrs old) that I didn't have when I was bigger and stronger (late 20's to mid 30's). Thanks to your videos the consistency is finally coming around!

Clay! I just subscribed to your channel. This morning I took this advice and instruction to the course and I am pleased beyond words. Thank you! The first iron shot I hit went left again and missed the green from 140. I thought I was applying your shoulder tuck tip but obviously didn't get it correct. I dropped a second ball and got it right that time. Not only was I dead on the pin but the shot sailed a bit long meaning I flushed it. A couple of short irons I stuck inside three feet for birdies from outside a 100 yards using the new move. I am pumped to play 18 tomorrow. The only thing I need to guard against is making the move to quickly. Great visuals in this video!

I had serious shoulder alignment issues after I hurt my right shoulder and couldn't swing for a few weeks. I was trying to protect the shoulder I inured been though it was perfectly fine! ( I know..Old men have the best excuses!!) What I did was, align my feet parallel with the flight line I wanted the ball to take. Then, I aligned my shoulders with my feet. I did this for about two weeks until I felt my shoulders were naturally aligning parallel on their own. Once I was comfortable with my shoulder alignment, I could then shift my right foot back for a draw or my left foot back for a fade. It took me a lot of practice swings to correct my "Late" shoulder. I was fitting the ball, hitting way behind the ball, my club was flailing like a flag in the breeze!! I really like how you have approached this issue!

Yeah, right elbow close to body for me was the holy grail of what I was missing through all my other golf movements. I practiced this last Sunday and the turning through the ball was like nothing else I had ever felt before. Clearly there is a period of bedding the drill in and honing the feeling but if you can stick with it you will find you start to TURN through the ball whilst delivering the release rather than anything else...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE IN YOUR JOURNEY.

Great video Clay! I would add, that as a former tournament level tennis player, I have found that for many slicers of the world, it is often easier to feel/understand/train the brain controlling the right hand/wrist being in extension/hand twisting back&down at the top/start of the backswing, than getting the left wrist, which is also attached to the grip, and mimicking the opposite of the Right Wrist's Extension, to be in that bowed position. Everyone struggling to 'get-it', should watch Clay's tennis right wrist video - it's honestly the key to the golf swing.

These problems send me in very hard time. Thank you for teaching side bend rotation, I'm gonna go the right way play golf for fun.

Clay, I was dealing with this exact issue yesterday. I found myself overcompensating for a pull by lowering my left shoulder too much on the backswing. One thing I am fairly certain of is when my shoulders are on plane I can feel it at the top of my backswing, and I even know at that moment that my shot/swing is going to be a good one. Thanks for this video because I was not sure what was going on but now I am fairly certain you hit the nail on the head.
