My dad was an F-4 pilot, serving in Viet Nam in 1968. I miss him dearly.

My Dad was the head metalsmith foreman at North Island NAS (where the Top Gun Maverick movie was recently filmed) up until 1975 when he retired, and was responsible for the repair and maintenance of F-4 Phantoms for the Navy during the Vietnam war. His primary function was to estimate what it would cost to rebuild the jets that had crashed, if it was worth it to repair, and to direct their repairs. He knew every inch of those wonderful aircraft! Also maintained Blue Angels' jets when they used F-4s and would work directly with McDonnell Douglas engineers in St. Louis to effect repairs when defects were found with the internal structures like metal fatigue. As you can see, I am very proud of my father's contributions to the longevity of these birds!

The pilots are showing off, knowing there are photogs on that ridge. Good on them for giving us great shots

Served as ground personnel in the Greek airforce around 1994-1995 in an F-4 Squadron.
I have probably filled fuel to the F-4s we see in this video back at the time.
Nice to see them ripping through the air to this day.

I grew up in a town of north western Greece, close to Aktion airbase. Can't remember how many hundreds of times as a kid I stopped what I was doing and run to the windows to watch the phantoms pass after hearing their amazong engines sound.... We are grateful to phantoms and their pilots for what they offered for more than half a century ☺️💪🇬🇷💪🇬🇷☺️

I've heard of certain Mediterranean nationals that live to a great age but am still surprised such *heavy smokers* are among them. 😉Great mountain scenery.👍🏼

In 1977, as a platoon leader, we were on a live fire exercise. Suddenly 2 F4s appeared out of nowhere. They came right at us, then turned up. The heat and thrust from the afterburners blew our steel pots off. WoW! Had it been real, we would have just been pink mist. They continued on downrange and dropped their ordinance. Stimulating and scary at the same time.

Jaw dropping scenery, the F-4s are icing on the cake. Thanks for sharing Dafydd, hope you got a bit of holiday time in Greece.

The Phantoms may be old. But they’re still beautiful aircraft. Had them whilst serving in Ala 12 Spanish Air Force 1985

I remember in the earlier 1970s when they were painted with the green brown camo. What a sight that was!

Brings back memories of holidays in the 70s and 80s at Loch Ness with regular forays of RAF Phantoms down the loch
These Greek boys weren't hanging around

7:26 I think if you connected all those camera lenses end-to-end you could reach one of those F-4s as it went past! 😉

Hard to imagine my favorite fighter jet when I was a kid in the 60s is still around, serving in a country's air force. 😎
