It is common for the fiber to be left on the ground by the installers. Companies have separate bury crews that come within a few weeks and bury the cable. They should definitely mark it though. We use caution tape on ours to try to keep this from happening. They do get cut though.

I'd bring my fusion splicer and fix it for free just to see your amazing property. Not even the best armored cable can withstand a lawnmower attack!

Forget the high priced phone and get an Ooma phone. In Georgia it is only $6.21 a month and works great. If you get all of the features it is $16.20 a month. I have had mine for a month and I am very happy with it.

You guys should have the fiber in a conduit buried at base of pole into the woods where they laid it down.
The drop can be spliced with minimal loss, don't look into end from central office, the laser is invisible to eye and will cause damage if you stare into it.

I have frontier and the fiber was bite by the dog and 2nd time by kids, then I changed to Mobile internet. Not so fast but enough for family. Fiber need special tool to melt and connect, or dedicated connectors, both are professional jobs, believe me, I was selling Optic Equipment before.

It's not the landscaping's fault about the wire being cut. That should be buried and shield by sand and stones so you don't dig in where the cable is at. We had our wires exposed where the bushes are that eventually get trimmed and sure enough my wife cut it because the wire was exposed.

Man, that really sucks. Maybe have them put the cable a little deeper in. I would put some steel t-posts in the ground and zip tie the new cable to it and than tie some orange trail marking ribbons on the cable. Just a suggestion.

Maybe you should tell him it's there -- or wrap some survey ribbon on it every few meters, or stake it out until it's buried. If the lawnmower doesn't get it, the snow plow will.
