Actually, I love how in the first film when Jim and Tennessee lived there, the house was surrounded with other houses while inside the house, it looked like a messy garage. Whereas in this film, the neighbourhood around the house lies in ruins from being demolished while Mrs. Steinmetz and Nicole has made the inside of the house much nicer and tidier.

I love to think Helen Hayes had so much fun acting in this movie

Oh God, seeing Mrs. Steinmetz's house sitting among the demolished houses makes me think of my old neighbourhood where I grew up. That's slowly being pulled down for modernisation. 2:08 is how I felt about our old house when we moved away 12 years ago and feel sad knowing it will soon get pulled down.

I wish that we could've seen the other two friends of Herbie again at some point.

That large music box at 1:32? I wish I had him, along with an interactive Herbie: Fully Loaded style version of Herbie himself.

I Love the Firehouse Set and Matte Painting Facade.
Always have. My ideal dream home has been that Victorian Firehouse.
Equal part Home and Workspace.
So Elegant and Grand and Strong stood there atop that Hill, even surrounded by demolished buildings.
I also liked that in this Film, it Is said that Herbie found Old 22.
I wish they'd made that a scene in a flashback, to Herbie finding him in that Vacant Lot one foggy, Damp, night like in the first film when he runs away.
Sad, ramshackle and barely held together,
He Clangs out his former cracked bell and faint out of tune music... Herbie hears Driving into the lot, in the dark,
way in the back, there sat Old 22....Herbie then communicates with 22, and Summons a few local Bugs of the Bug Army to assist him in getting Old 22 back to the Firehouse safely.
On board 22, is also the
Musical Orchestrion Mrs.Steinmetz now has in her possession. A bit Out of tune bit still trying its best.... it manages to start a slow melody of what would Become the Steadfast and Sure " Hill Climb" melody later on.
Mrs. Steinmetz then takes them both in and set to work
Cleaning, Restoring, Painting,and Fixing them.
Turning them into working condition again.
Showing sweet Helen Hayes Down in the hands on gritty of a mechanical rebuild, wrenches to welders and Oxy/Acetylene torches etc, but still retaining her Lovable Grandmotherly quality.
Having learned the skills from Captain Steinmetz in her Younger Years when she was married to him and having then having taught Tennessee the skills he knows and then also, by proxy, later on, before he goes to Europe....Jim.

In retrospect I do wish that Dean Jones and Buddy Hackett had come back in this film with the others who were already cast.
Mrs. Steinmetz and Nicole getting in touch with Tennessee by long distance phone call.
His Guru, in his final request gives the Last Task of enlightenment for Tennessee.,
Telling him of his Honor and Loyalty to him and Thanking Him...
But he Also bequests him to make the Journey back Home to
San Francisco to Defend his Aunt and his Home.

Upon agreeing to his Guru's last request,
Tennessee then subsequently calls Jim, Long Distance, in Europe, he Immediately gets on a plane for the States claiming a family emergency.
They both end up back in San Francisco and converge on the Firehouse.
To help defend it from Mr.Hawk.
Jim, also knowing of Alonzo via also knowing Peter Thorndyke.
Who most likely sold Alonzo Hawk his Rolls Royce.
Alonzo also having ran an
"Auto Wrecking Company" among his Real Estate Ventures.
(Don't forget that Mr. Hawk was a Repo Man / may or may not have been a
Car Thief once upon a time.)

The ending Stand off with the Heavy Equipment Army vs the Bug Army would be
Mrs. Steinmetz, Mr. Judson, & Tennessee at the Firehouse, while Jim grabs on to Herbie and crawls in through the Sunroof as he goes for Help. Sort of fighting to get him under control, but realizing he's on a mission. Slides to a stop a Fisherman's Wharf and out come Nicole and Willoughby. They Recruit the Bug Army, while others Make Ready the Firehouse and To Fly the Original Flag at Full Mast up in the Tower.

Then commence the Charge with both Old cast and new cast together...

Mi sa che alla fine posso rimanere solo nella mia vita vedendo questo film

I've never understood: mrs Steinmetz says she used to live in that house since she was married, but only few years earlier that one was the house of Jim and Tennessee, as even Mrs Steinmetz says few seconds later.

Where did she live in the 1st movie?
