I have decided to add a small solar array to the roof of the shed for experimental reasons.
The plan is to have a pair of 100W PV panels feeding a pair of car batteries and a pure sinewave inverter.
Load wise I'll be running the 10 x 1.2M LED strip lights and my battery chargers for my Ryobi and DeWalt drills etc.
I want to understand the limits of solar and get some data.
The kit arrived today well packaged and all safe.
Eager to witness the magic of "free energy" from the sun I quickly wired the battery to the charge controller then one of the panels ro check it was all good.
And it was...
Kit.
200W Renogy solar panel kit £280 (June 2022)
2x 100W Renogy panels
1x 40A Renogy charge controller
2x 8ft AWG CC to battery cables
2x 20ft 10AWG panel to CC cables
8x Z mounting brackets
1x Battery temperature probe
I also ordered the BT2 Bluetooth adapter, but that is on back order and due in a few weeks.
This video was shot 18th June 2022 in Kent (South East UK) at about 16:30, so the sun was on its way down, but the panel was directed straight at it.
Battery is 72Ah 12V lead acid car battery. I know they are not the best, but I was trying to limit costs in this trial.
Please with over 4A as that is close to a battery charger peak.
The quotes are around "free energy" as you need to spend cash on the solar to get it, FYI, they're not free.
Have a 4,000 W peak 2,000W constant inverter for the trial.
