Wrong! Class starts when the class is scheduled not _whenever_ you want. Also, some classes have mandatory attendance policies that, if not adhered to, will effect your grade. Just remember, there's no hand-holding in college so one needs to have even more discipline than when in HS. That's just the way it is. True, you are more free to organize your class schedule to fit your life. But remember: for every hour of class time (whether you're there or not), equates to 3-hours of out of class work.

To get the point across. If just "appropriate" messages were allowed, it wouldn't make any difference.

Go to trade school. Pay less than $20, 000 total and make $45K-$100K+/annually.

This is an important message to get out to young students, why does it have to be portrayed in such a sexist way?

That guy is in for a very bitter disappointment if he takes women's studies for the express purpose of finding dates!

And this is why I wrote Bias Incident: The World's Most Politically Incorrect Novel. The main character, Jeff Jackson is just as naive as the young man in this video.

People can say whatever they like, as long as it is politically correct.

Not to mention, the implication that Davidson is a public university...it's not.

It would be nice if these videos were also in some type of transcript/article form, so people with suckish internet could just read it instead of banging their head on a wall for 2 hours because it won't load -_-

Sorry, I just saw this reply. I think the FIRE's reading of this definition is a gross misinterpretation. I don't think "comments and inquiries" would imply that students aren't allowed to ask each other out. I think it means that students shouldn't taunt or ask inappropriate questions about someone's personal relationships. It also says you shouldn't comment or inquire about sexual activities or orientation, in the same sentence...but somehow FIRE didn't extend the interpretation.

Continued: The wording of the policy in your screenshot is a bit unclear because it doesn't give an example of what it means by comments and inquiries, but I in no way interpret that to mean "you can't date at Davidson" which is what this video conveys.

Additionally, this screen shot is from January 2011. This video was posted in July 2012. Can you show precisely when Davidson removed that wording?

Of course this "policy" was not enforced against my fiancé and me or any of my hundreds of classmates who dated, hooked up, or tied the knot--because it never existed!

Is this a joke or....? I went to a university and we never had a speech code or anything similar to it. If this isn't a joke, then wow, I really did go to the best college.

Wow. Not allowed to ask people out or date at Davidson? Dig a little deeper next time instead of relying on what your cousin has to say.

I met my fiancé at Davidson and we dated all four years. Actually LOTS of people meet their future spouse at Davidson, lots of people go out on occasional dates, and lots of people go down to the parties every weekend looking for hook-ups.

There is no such rule. Your statement is absolutely false. Before you go deterring future students, do your research.
