I’m perfectly fine with Pluto being classified as a dwarf planet. Pluto fits in much better with Eris and Haumea and Makamake than it ever did with Earth or Mercury or Saturn.
The statement “a dwarf planet is not a planet” is where most people have problems, myself included. A dwarf star is still a star, a dwarf galaxy is still a galaxy. Dwarf planets should still be planets.
Experts recognize that Pluto is in its own class AND that they’re ALL planets! You can have your cake and eat it too. Jupiter is in its own class compared to Earth, but they’re both still planets. Many people recognize Pluto’s differences to other planets AS WELL AS its similarities! What’s the harm of having dwarf planets be planets too? They’re a different type, but marvelously complex and fascinating. And there’s over a hundred of them! 💫

Thank you for this useful and practical video. When Pluto was re-classified I heard moaning from all over the Internet, but now tensions seem to have calmed down. Personally, I've been fine with the re-classification. Fun fact, right now we're using the same 8 planets system as it was used between 1846 and 1930 (the year in which Pluto was discovered).

So, a dwarf planet called “the goblin” takes 30, 000 years to complete one orbit around the sun. So, it takes nearly triple that of Sednas time to travel around the sun at over 11, 400 years. Sedna has no known moons. Sedna was discovered in 2003. Sedna will be at its perihelion in 2075 or 2076. So, Sedna was at its aphelion around 9, 000 BC. Sedna is beyond Pluto and the Kuiper Belt.
