This movie gave me nightmares. I watched it on Creature Features on KTVU in the Bay Area. We lived on a mountain side and I had nightmares that Gaira was walking on the street and looks into my house at eye level!! And I usually would wake up at that point.

This was such a good movie! Sanda was such a good guy! He must’ve been so lonely living in the mountains. Then he saves one of his own only to find out that he’s nothing like him! Both of the actors did an outstanding job! I didn’t even think of two men but two Gargantua’s!

For such a cheesy sounding title, this ends up being one of the best kaiju films of its era. It's such a tragic film with a well done story, and you can help but feel bad for Sanda. He has to kill his own brother for the sake of mankind, and in the end loses his life for it.

Stupid comment to say he was no match..they both body slam each other! You edited out the first body slam??Sanda was tame and had a badly injured leg saving the lady that raised him in captivity! Gaira was wild..Definitely a match! Did you see the scene where he dive bombs the boat into Gaira's back??! Best movie Toho ever made! Should have made a part 2!

I personally feel imo Sanda was stronger only his injury kept gaira around longer he was very patient trying to reason with him til he had no choice

I'm not a fan of remakes. They usually tend to be shit, but I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of this movie that expands Sanda and Gaira as fully fledged characters with a bigger budget.
