When someone mentions about Gestapo, even today this is the man of Gestapo for me. It was brilliant acting and I love the film.

Superb movie. Nor played on TV for a while. Brilliant actor line up. One of my best ever films of all time. Loved Darren Nesbitt.

That is one of the best movies I have ever seen.

He was brilliant in that, and was perfect and genuinely convinciing as the German gertapo, on the trail of Eastwood and Burton, ...one of my favourite ever films, ...and one of the great war movies

ROFL. I am staggered. I can't believe the actor who played von Hapen wasn't a German. That makes an amazing performance even better.

Good to see Derren Nebitt still going strong. Even at this time he can be seen in Special Branch (late 60's) being repeated on TalkingPicturesTV this autumn and in an episode of Gideons Way (early 60's) today again TalkingPicturesTV, some great parts along with a brilliant performance in Where Eagles Dare, great actor.

Great to see he is still sharp and powering along. I was watching a 1970 episode of Special Branch and looked him up. He's also in a very stylish 1972 film Innocent Bystanders

His "Man in the Back Seat" (1961) is on YouTube! Watch it! Great actor!

Hey, he must have survived being shot in 'Where Eagles dare.'

The filming of Where Eagles Dare had to be halted for 2 weeks because Burton had gone on an almighty bender with Peter O Toole and Richard Harris. They weren't even in the movie.

I almost jumped out of my seat when I was watching a stage play in 2000 and onto the stage he trotted! It took me a minute to realise that he was the Gestapo man from WED! (The play was Shakespeare’s “Troilus and Cressida”, a Melbourne, AU production of the Bell Shakespeare Co.)

Burton and vodka— it fits. 4 bottles a day. While we can quibble about the black uniform he wore as a Gestapo agent in 1944 and the close combat badge in gold (unlikely) his performance was brilliant. On top of it he’s Jewish. Major von Hapen— “Sit down Colonel!”

Derren played such a convincing German that I thought he was a real German actor. It wasn't until I saw him on the series The Prisoner that I'd learned he was British.

Nesbitt looked too Jewish to play a Gestapo officer.

This is amazing and a pleasant surprise to see 'Major Von Hapen' come alive!
'Where Eagles Dare' remains an iconic movie full of legendary stars. I've watched it dozens of times and still can with the same interest like first the time. Darren's performance remains an outstanding role even today.

Wishing Derren Nesbitt a continued great health and a long life 👍

👍👍👍
