It’s really small. Buybacks r still more tax efficient than dividends. The tax code should favor dividends over buy backs.

Tax buyback taxes shouldn't be able raising revenue, it should be about stopping the practice in the first place. They should be illegal imo but if not the tax should be HEAVY, I'm thinking like 50%. Make the practice uneconomic and it won't happen. It's a terrible business practice that harms the economy by using money that should be invested in making the business more productive and just putting it in the pockets of shareholders (thru reduced supply of the stock ofc). The idea that this guy thinks the right move is to give him a tax break so he no longer engages in bad behavior is the type of entitlement that only rich people can pull off without realizing how absurd it is.

stock buybacks used to be illegal because people used to realize that buybacks are literally market manipulation lmao. its also such an obvious way to sidestep other taxes like dividends, which his how companies SHOULD pay out stockholders. and at least increasing taxes on buybacks MIGHT incentivize companies to MAYBE increase wages for workers

Re:double taxation, I would take the opposite approach and eliminate the corporate income tax and tax dividends and buybacks more.

Stock buyback is needed by corporations to counter analysts tanking their stock prices. If you think analysts are always right, please let me know their names.

Buybacks are front-running valuation manipulation and should be illegal. Tax is just a band-aid.

As you can see we are already in <August and I feel for those who would allow the market dynamism to determine when to trade or not are either new in space or probably just naïve, the sphere have seen far worse times than this, enlightened traders continue to make good use of the dip and pump even acquiring more equities towards trading sessions, I'd say that more emphasis should be put into trading since it is way profitable than holding.
