⭐ About Travel Beans:
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:

2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!

2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.

2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.

2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!

What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. If you enjoy this kind of content we'd recommend checking out our Italy Road Trip series, USA vanlife series and our Japan in a Tiny Van series as well as our UK vanlife content.

Our time spent overcoming depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. We love sharing the highs and lows of our trips through our videos and hope to spread a little positivity and light to all of the beautiful people who take the time to tune in and watch each week!

A thought - have you considered reversing the house? Now that the kitchen's ripped out that could be even easier. You could make the main bedroom upstairs a big airy dining kitchen - with that amazing view and the smaller bedroom a sitting area. It would mean that when you walk in tired you're immediately where you want to be to rest/eat etc. The dining room downstairs could be a main bedroom and the existing kitchen Noah's bedroom, with his own built-in play areas just above where he sleeps (you could gate the stairs whilst he's small) It has so much potential and with those views as well, Italian heaven!

Some of that furniture is authentic old italian and beautiful. I would keep the traditional furniture with all its character.

It’s exciting news! I lived in sicily for 15 years…don’t get rid of the water tank. Keep the furniture and get rid of what you don’t use. It’s not easy finding all the new …live in the house before you change stuff

Congrats! The house is lovely. My advice: 1) live there for a while before you do anything. Get to know the house, get the feel of how you move around the space, then make decisions. 2) Don't pour a lot into Noah's tiny room. It will not be long before he is to tall to play there! You will be surprised how the time will fly. I could see a soaring cathedral ceiling in your kitchen in that space, or, open it up and put your terrace there! You have the "outdoor kitchen" there already.

Please don’t rip out that cladding just paint it. You would be surprised of how it would brighten up the room without all the extra work and materials going into the landfill. Love the house. Great job.

I remember Sara and Luca showing this house and the little kitchen because the lady was so little!!! So happy that you guys bought this and the idea of making that a play area is a wonderful idea ❤. It was nice to see Sara, Luca and Luce and happy that you guys will be neighbors and good friends.

Remember wooden furniture doesn't give off fumes, MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) contains formaldehyde, a chemical known to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive hazards.
Formaldehyde is used as a binder to hold together wood fibers in MDF production. So I prefer wood, at least where I'm sleeping or spending lots of time.

We lived in Sicily from 95 to 98…..everything Luca said about the Italians is so true. They are kind, understanding, will offer you food and hug your kiddo. Congratulations to you three. You will love it.. We miss our time there.❤

That room that’s wood cladded may be easier and perhaps cheaper to just paint instead of removing the wood.

I have cried. This news just filled my heart with joy. As an Aussie Grandmother, I watched you both from early days. I have watched Sara, Luca, and Lucca since early days also. I have an Italian family on my kids' father's side whom I adore so much. To see you living near Sara and Luca with Noah is just perfect. I adore your new house and you will find living there will become your new life as kids grow together and education becomes the reality. These villagers will take you into their hearts as you them. I will never have that opportunity but would have in a blink over 40 yrs ago. I so look forward to your next videos. Hug Luca and Sara tightly as they are as special as you two are. Xxoo

Long-time Beans subscriber here. I don't think I have ever seen the two of you look happier and more at peace. Congratulations on the new home, both physically and mentally. That little village looks absolutely idyllic. Good luck on the future modifications on the house.

After surviving the pandemic in a big city....we are delighted to have a tiny, two bedroom house off the highway in nowhere. Garden, chickens, more trees than you could ever count. That house is lovely!

You will need that tank. Water gets cut off regularly because of drought. Im sure there is a Mondo Convenienze company there. ( Thats the name of it.) They come to measure, you go to their showroom and choose your layout. Sink, dishwasher, stove, oven, cabinets drawers, colors my kitchen was about 1200 euro installed including appliances. Ask around locals will know where mondo convenienze. Good to see younger families moving to Italy. Italians are so helpful .

Remember how upset you were because you lost the bid on the previous house that was in the woods by the water. It was beautiful and now you’re doing this so completely different, Are you happy you didn’t win the bid? My husband and I are in our 60s and we found throughout our lives that the one house you think would be perfect is not the plan God has for you and then you end up with some thing even better.🥰 it has happened every time out of about seven moves🙏

Might want to not do to much until you spend some time there and really figure out what you want to do in the house. You will need to redo the walls of the room with wood on them when you remove it. You might change your mind on how you want the place set up once you are in it for a little while. I would consider keeping the water tank if you can it is a benefit to have a water storage. You seem very happy and have already found so many things you enjoy, I hope you find more. Take time to figure things out without rushing them it may surprise you what you think of for the house after you stay there a while.

I’m drooling over the Italian antiques in your new home! Please make sure they go to someone who will love them! Good luck with the move and I’m thrilled to see you guy with Sara Luca and lovely little Luce! Noah and Luce will most certainly be good playmates!

The child will probably not want to use the playden. It's dark and away from you. In my experience kids are less bothered about that stuff than you think and they get bored of it very quickly, especially if they know you want them to use it. Best open it out and give yourself a lovely light kitchen.

8:28 it’s so lovely and interesting to listen to all of your different accents! I enjoy accents so mic and always try to do them!
To see if I can sound similar 😊❤ the man in the white shirt (your friend) he put an “Ah” sound at the end of most of his words…very interesting to listen to him speak English 😊😊

It is so lovely that you’re going to be Sara, Luca, and Luce’s neighbor! Noah and Luce will totally be playmates! I remember when Sara gave a tour of your new home!
