Hiking at night, in winter, with snow on the ground and trees, during a full-moon, is especially pretty.

I love night hiking, the sounds are amazing too. I once hiked ten miles at night. I couldn't sleep so I packed up my equipment at 1:30 am and hiked till the sun came up.

i love night hikes, the weather is usually a little cooler, and true you might miss a couple view, but I have always slept better and hiked at a faster step.

The forest really comes alive at night. I loved hiking at night since I was a boy scout. Many many moons ago... It is mysterious and yet peaceful.

Night hiking is the best. You can't beat walking under the stars & a full moon :)

I have never night hiked, but think it would be great to try out. Thanks for the tips.

I have night floated (canoe) many times with friends on a river I know like the back of my hand, and its absolutely great. Hiking at night would have to be similar. Only once have I solo night floated and a beaver popping its tail on the water nearby almost made me crap myself, but it was so cool to be out there alone. Navigating by sound when the light fails is a little scary, exciting and an absolute blast. Navigating by the light of a full moon with a light fog on the water is awe inspiring.

I have hiked out of camp early morning with a couple of hours in the
dark by myself before. Hiked with a couple of buddies at night for
several miles before. I am going to sound really old We did
not have headlamps because they were not popular yet. We used a head
strap for use with a mag lite flashlight. Since then I have bought a
head lamp and stopped carrying a mini mag lite. LED bulbs are such a
game changer. Good Vid!

Nice video and good advice. I liked your comments about night hiking in the Whites. I've done my share of it and night hiking in the Whites is best done only if you're very familiar with the area.

I was bullied into night hiking. All my AT thrus (save one) were off season. Which means I was hiking through entire winters, arriving at Springer around March. Winter days are so short. The sun skims the horizon, and drops. We all sort of knew that night hiking was a given. Pretty much 7 days a week. I actually now prefer it. At least on the AT. To hike at night, on the AT, for no other reason than to hike at night. Crazy, but true.

Great topic. One of my favorites.

Night hiking sounds amazing! I love walking, grocery shopping, doing pretty much anything at night so this sounds like the way to go, for a nice change. Thanks so much for the video!

Night hiking up in Maine and the northern part of the New Hampshire part of AT thee was so much mica it was just miles and miles of sparkles in the night. It looked like a trail full of diamond dust!

first time I night hiked was at the red river gorge. it was my first time there and I was going off trail. I was nerves and jumping at every sound for the first 2 or 3 miles. it's always fun to push your self, and expand your confidence in the woods.

Love your videos, we live in Kentucky and do a lot of hiking, and kayakin/camping. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration.

You seem like a heck of a young lady. Confident, smart, adventurous, pretty and best of all happy. God bless and happy hiking.

I've watched a bunch of your videos and love them all, but this was my favorite so far! Your eyes just light up when you talk about your night hike experiences, and it's clear you love them. I'm with you! I've done some night trail run races, and do little sections of the AT each year. This spring a shelter area was packed with not enough room for mine and my friend's tents. We pushed on, it got dark, and we loved the hour and a half hiking by headlamp to a better spot! I use Black Diamond too. 200 lumens has worked well for me.

I'm laying in a hotel now after 4 full days in the Smoky Mountains. I got to check off night hiking for 2 hours and hiking for 6 hours in a torrential down pour! I had to night hike because my reserved camp was far away but the site had a bear activity warning and it was even creepier. No moon and all by myself. I had a Petzl Tika+ which adjusts brightness automatically so that worked really well for watching my footing and looking far away. It's heavier than the lightest ones and uses a rechargeable battery but I really like it.
