Short-term spending bill passes House, heads to the Senate

Congress is closing on a deal to keep the government funded. The House passed a short-term spending bill on Wednesday, the Senate is expected to vote on the measure later today. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more on that, plus the House Jan. 6 committee wrapping up its work.

Here are some ideas.

Every time there is a shutdown, congress should take a pay cut penalty.
Bills should be at most 10 pages written in common simple language and must be published for 1 month publicly so that citizens can review them.
Large bills that will influence the vast majority of Americans should be tallied based on a national poll vote via numerous citizen volunteer institutions.
Abolishment of Buckley vs Velo and most recently Citizens United, henceforth making bribery a federal crime.
Our tax dollars should be reported annually to see how they are broken down and where they are allocated to.
Bills and other legislative actions must be issued, discussed, and passed only during official government working hours and not at 1:30 in the morning on a Sunday evening.
While in office no members of congress, nor any member’s next of kin, are allowed to participate in any public markets or trades.
A maximum age cap of 60 must be mandated
Every member of congress should have an annual salary base equal to that, of the national median average during their tenure based on the policies and proper ethical work they produce to serve the American people and the economy.
No more than a total of 2 terms per individual should be allowed to serve in congress total for both the Senate as well as the house.
The minimum age to vote should be 25 after a person has either finished college or worked for a few years and or supported themselves.
Every Congress person is required by law to hold at minimum a master’s degree in politics
Every member of congress will be required to serve as a member of the active forces upon completion of their set.
