I had to white wash my table because it had dark spots and I'm going for a lighter stain. This video is exactly what I was looking for.

I would love to see you doing a similar experiment with your favorite gel stains or glazes on top of paint! Thank you for these videos, they are so helpful. 😊

Thanks so much for your videos Shannon! I never realized you could bleach wood & also the tip staining with whitewash 1st before other color!!!.
I have some cedar pieces of furniture handed down from my great grand parents. I never cared for the orange look. I bleached 2 pieces this week, whitewashed, then 2 layers of other of stains. They look fabulous now!!! Thanks a million!!!

Yes, this was very helpful, I want to lighten the color of my kitchen cabinets so through other videos, and now this one I know to white wash them first and then put in whichever tone of stain on, I can’t wait to try it out! Yes, your video was very inspiring!

Just so you know, that respirator is for blocking airborne particulates. Dust or aerosol droplets from sanding or spraying. It does not protect you from VOC or solvent vapors that you experience in the liquid form. You would need a scuba tank type setup. Thank you for the time you invested in the great stain examples.

Thank you for taking the time in making this video. I actually used aged oak yesterday on a fish tank wood stand and the color is great but I used a brush. After drying you can see the brush markes. How can I correct it, do I have to sand it down again?

Love your video on stain combinations. I have a chest with a veneer and the burgandy cherry finish from the 1990s. I'd like to stain the top to give it more of an aged look but sanding all the way down wont work. Do you have any examples of veneer projects?

Will antique white stain end with the same colors as the whitewash pickling you used?
