This wasn’t Brock playing with the San Francisco 49ers, this was Brock playing with the Santa Clara 39ers.

1st read looks like a slip and slide commercial, 2nd read bracketed like algebra, 3rd read out of bounds. If this is what Nick Wright means by no avengers, I see it. But this wasn't the X-Men or the Guardians or the X-Force. This was like Rita's Putty Patrol out there.

I guess Purdy is the only QB in NFL that is expected to be a dominate QB in preseason and is supposed to be undefeated with 3rd string receivers.

We cant ignore that Brock was playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers against most of the saints' starting defense

Purdy IS quick! According to PFF, he had the FASTEST 10-yard burst in the entire league during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Now, I'm not sure if that has changed since the most recent draft, but this is something that has gone widely ignored by most "expert" analysts

This wasnt a case of just “the avengers” not being out there, this was Brock being out there with guys who won’t even make the 53. Cannot believe Shanahan made the call to put Brock in with a full team of 2s, 3s and even 4s, what a way to rail your QB1

I think I lot of people forgot or didn’t notice that it was Klay Kubiak calling the plays this game vs his brother Klint. Might explain some of the odd play calls early on

Furthermore, realistically he was only playing with two starters and the center is possibly going to be replaced. All this while playing against the saints 1s.

I thought towards the end of last season his footwork wasnt A+, so its good to see him clean that back up. There is a chance that the full avengers squad will not be back this year so im interested to see if any new connections and chemistry can be formed with some of the younger Wrs. All in all not worried.

He should not be running into contact on 3ed down in a meaningless preseason game.

Going out of bounds was correct

Purdy has earned enough cache for people to stop questioning every little decision he makes.

Looking forward to your next one on Josh Dobbs. Watched your last 3 from ‘23 and see a great opportunity to develop in a system that doesn’t rely on QB improv. Trusting the system enough to anticipate open receivers and throw before sacks alone, will reduce turnovers, both on strips and the pressure to take unnecessary risks on the resulting 2nd and 3rd and longs. Like Aaron Rodgers says, trusting the play call and sticking to the plan is a skill that many QBs struggle with these days
