Please remember to add a ribbon or a string of some sort to the light so the kid can turn it on and off themself! The style of bedroom suggests your friend is planning on fostering younger children, and they should be able to choose to turn the light on or off themself :)

This nook is perfect. When I was being abused as a child, I lived in my closet for awhile because it felt like a safe hideaway for me. I think that many foster kids may find that in this space.

I would add something to the first for those kids too, like a curtain. As a former foster youth, that little thing can make the difference between a safe hidden space or somewhere you are easily cornered. Though every child is going to be different, I'm just glad they will have such a nice home to be a part of even if for a moment.

This is absolutely adorable! One thing I would recommend is more pillows/comfy things. Giant squishmallows or stuffed animals work great (I'm laying on one right now). As a teenager (younger teenager) who has panic attacks+a ton of anxiety it really helps to just be in a corner or somewhere comfy and just relax. This is a really cute idea but it would be so uncomfortable to sit in there without any pillow or anything other than the mat <3
