You have a range of numbers in Excel but there are some error cells. When you try to use AutoSum, it selects the wrong range. When you select the correct range, the Sum is replaced by an error.
This video shows two methods for solving the problem:
With Microsoft 365, add IFERROR inside the SUM.
With older Excel, use the AGGREGATE function to ignore errors.

Nice such small tutorials. I would have targetted error at source.

Hi, I tried the aggregate function but after writing =aggregate, the drop down menu with the list of functions didn't appear, so I couldn't do it. I am using Excel on a Mac. Does that make a difference? Thanks.

in older versions does not if error work on arrays and CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER would work?

this will also yield the correct result:
=SUM(IF(ISNUMBER($B$5:$B$19), ($B$5:$B$19), 0))
in versions preceding the current version (365), you might need to type CSE (Ctrl+Shift+Enter) instead of Enter - for the formula to work.
I haven't checked

Aggregate is a great function :) however I would rather deal with the errors in the dataset than ignore them in case they came back to bite me in the ass further down the line.
