I feel like this... I try to see how much of the real me people can handle, then stop when I feel resistance from them. If I desire to be closer with someone, I might reveal my true self more, but otherwise I usually don't want to risk people hating me.

My parents told me that nobody would ever love me like they did... And every day I wished I had called social services to give somebody that opportunity but I lived in fear of doing it. Now sometimes I go to halfway houses to let them know that things are going to work out... Because I know what it was like before they left and things are always working out

Well, most parents today unfortunately don't know the power of admiration, love and trust, because all they know themselves is anxiety and stress.

I was abandoned by my mother at 3. My father kept me as a maid and built in babysitter. He still has his arms folded across his chest when I talk to him. It is as if he is completely closed off, and I am just the help. 😮😢 So when I grew up, I spent my whole life healing and pulled myself away from anyone who cannot see my worth, and does not act for my highest good.
On reflection, I did sort of play a role to win acceptance growing up, and several years into my adulthood. But not anymore.
