I'm a newcomer to North America, coming from Iran. Construction is totally different back there; it's all cement and steel and bricks. I've been learning a huge deal about construction in North America from Matt, and I can't find words to express how grateful I am for his sharing all this great knowledge for free. Matt! your content has been an invaluable help in my transition in my career as a project manager from my home country to Canada. Thank you, for your generosity, and I sincerely hope you continue to share your wealth of knowledge. I'll forever be appreciative.

Steve and Matt, it seems like “building science” is perceived as an additional ingredient for builders to use. But science is using observation and experimentation to understand truth. Using “building science”means adhering to tested and proven means when building. People who don’t use “building science” in building are not incorporating the knowledge gained from research and observation as to what works and doesn’t work. Anyone can stick a shovel into the ground, but they are not using science if they aren’t following methods proven with research and experimentation. So the problem comes when people build houses without using building science.
