The sad thing is that Stockton Rush actually seemed a very likeable guy- a convincing speaker, energetic, enthusiastic, ambitious and a strong desire to push the boundaries and beat the odds.
However, all the commendable traits led to a fatal flaw of hubris and a dangerously deluded sense of arrogant over confidence that ultimately ended in inevitable, yet entirely avoidable, disaster. It is an almost Shakespearian like tragedy in its nature.
If one lesson should have been learned from the Titanic disaster, it is that the power of nature should NEVER be overlooked or underestimated, or people will pay with their lives. This lesson applies as much in 2023 as it did in 1912.
Pray for the families and loved ones left behind from this awful tragedy, especially the mother of the young man who perished in the accident. To simultaneously lose both your spouse and your child is a pain that I cannot even begin to imagine.
