I'm partial to Suzuki. I like KLRs, yet I would consider the DR as an upgrade! As far as bikes go, simple is best in my experience, compared to the uber-adventure bikes.

"Goes from washing machine to dirt bike" is a perfect description for the DR! That rattlely growl when you twist the throttle at speed is addictive.
Great video!

We were expecting one bike and you got both of the main KLR competitors. Far exceeded expectations and I’m looking forward to your videos on both.

I totally relate to your "I'm a dual-sport" guy comment in the vid. I'm doing sprockets and chain on a friend's '17 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and I admire the beast but have no interest in owning one. I don't even want to do the test drive. A 650 dual-sport is as big as I want to go. So your latest additions to the fleet are right in my interest zone. Let the good times roll!!

Great quality video. Everything you say is engaging and doesn’t just feel like filler. Great production!

You were one my inspirations to get my KLR, but I still enjoy your content regardless of what you are riding. I look forward to seeing where you go with the DR.

Congrats on the new DR, I was looking for a nice used one, but couldn’t find one so I purchased a 2024. Two days later my neighbor drives by on a 2011 with only 400 miles on it and it was for sale. Lol
I’m excited to see what you’ve got planned for your DR.
Stay safe and I really enjoy your videos.

Going fishing on my bike is like my number 1 fav thing to do. I go searching for brook trout creeks for days 😂

can't wait for some "impartial" comparison by the same person of the two in real dual sport offroading conditions . Good job

Keep the comparisons coming! I think my end goal is going to be either a DR650, KLR650, or XR650, so your direct back-to-back comparisons are really helpful.

Love my DR. Has been converted for long range unsupported outback travel. Upgraded suspension, bigger tank, better seat, some frame/engine protection etc. If you get an aftermarket tank then buy one in 'clear'. Great choice in bike.

Hey! Ariel here from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm about to buy a DR650 in black—super excited! Great channel, thanks

Actually pretty excited for this series. I have always heard many good things about the DRs but never explored them myself.

Love the DR man. I have a 2014 and it’s a blast!

I cruise 80 on my DR650 with the tusk windshield and Acerbis 6.6 gallon tank all day no issues.

All three of the 650cc thumper dual sports from Japan have been compared on this channel, which is such a good resource. I can’t think of another channel where this is the case 🤟

I like that DR, Ben! Looking forward to seeing your build on it and comparisons to the KLR and XR. Not too many folks can say they rode a KLR650, DR650 and an XR650 all in the same day! LOL

Surprising to hear how good the DR is on-road, I wouldn't have expected that given the relative lack of protection. Thanks for the insight

Glad you’re finally reviewing an actual dual sport worthy of the definition
