Are One Direction Still Friends? Inside Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam & Zayn's Relationships Now

Harry was the face of One Direction, and the singer people cared the most about in this band.

Today, he is a successful singer all by himself. He doesn’t need a boy band to back him up. He is focusing on his solo career spending most of his time in the U.S and has been making headlines for his androgynous looks and choices of clothes. He turns heads everywhere he goes.

This 28-year-old has been successful in releasing albums including Fine Line.

During Harry’s SNL monologue, he throws shade at Simon Cowell and Zayn Malik. Styles left Zayn out of his monologue. Here is what he said: “I love those guys. They’re my brothers. Niall, Liam, Louis… and uh Ringo. Yeah, that’s it.”

Harry has said that he is sad that Zayn left the band. That’s why he didn’t want to mention him in his SNL monologue.

But he remains close friends with Niall Horan. In 2020, these two were seen backstage at the BRIT awards where Harry was nominated. Niall went to the event to support Harry. They still hang out from time to time and text each other. They also encourage each other’s solo careers.

Niall is known as the sweetie pie of One Direction. This 28-year-old is still friends with all of his old band members. At least, he thinks he’s friends with all of them.

He does, however, struggle to keep in touch with Zayn. Niall has admitted that Zayn doesn’t want to talk to him much and that it saddens him.

But Niall makes a point of staying good friends with Louis and Liam. They are both fathers.

Next up- Liam Payne

Despite his mental breakdown because of One Direction, 28-year-old Liam Payne still chooses to be friends with one of the other members.

He is still close to Louis Tomlinson. In 2018, they have done a Gogglebox special episode for Stand Up to Cancer together. During that episode, these two have revealed that they like to hang out all the time.

They have grown up from boys in a boy band to dads! Liam still hangs out with Nial sometimes.

Liam has revealed that he’s lost touch with Harry Styles,not knowing what he will say to him if he met him. This is what Liam said: “There’s so much mystery around who he’s become. I was looking at some pictures of him the other day, and I just thought, I don’t know what more I’d say to him other than, 'Hello' and 'How are you?”

Liam believes that he is the polar opposite of Harry, and their music couldn’t be more dissimilar. Liam thinks he is the antichrist version of Harry. What do you guys think? Is he?

Next, we have Louis Tomlinson

30-year-old Louis Tomlinson says what he wants and doesn’t always watch his mouth. Louis remains good pals with Niall. In November 2019, these two were hanging out backstage at a festival in Mexico. Both of them were performing and even belted out their song from One Direction, Little Black Dress during soundcheck.

The Kill My Mind singer is not a fan of Zayn. He makes that perfectly clear. Hear this-- in May 2015, Louis went on a Twitter rant about Zayn. Zayn did not hesitate to reply.

Louis wrote this: “forgot you were such an in-demand producer…. How does it feel to be riding on the back of someone else’s career?”

Zayn was furious, replying: “remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?”

Luckily Louis is on good terms with Harry, but they live in separate cities leading separate lives.

Then we have- the stubborn Zayn Malik

The black sheep of One Direction has a chip on his shoulder about his ex-bandmates. He definitely doesn’t call them mates anymore.

The ‘Pillowtalk’ singer has strained relationships with everyone from One Direction. Zayn claims that ever since his departure from the group, his friendships with them cease to exist.

Here’s some shade that Zayn threw on Harry when he was asked if he still speaks to Harry: “To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band… So, I didn’t really expect that much of a relationship with him.” Yikes. Sounds like they must have really hated each other. Don’t you think?

Zayn simply states that his relationship with One Direction is broken.

Last, of all-do they still keep in touch?

Are One Direction members still friends? The answer is yes and no. Not all of the band members get on with each other but there are strong friendships among some of them. One Direction fans are devastated that their favorite boy band is not all close friends. But what do you expect from five different people with five different personalities hanging out? Surely not everyone will get along.

Perhaps they will all be friends again and put the past behind them.

Hmm something must have happened between zayn and the band, something they are not revealing, like its one thing for zayn to leave to pursue his own solo career and all, but it seems like he not only left the band but permanently cut ties with them. I guess some people just grow apart, but it seems they liked each other when he was in 1D. Oh well. life happens
