Scuba diver here, I believe the “strange structure” is a decompression tank for divers, specifically super crazy depths for repairs, welding, etc. On normal dives ascending too fast can give you the bends where you get bubbles in your blood (75+ ft), When at 200-400 ft they have to stay underwater at that pressure for a few hours in that tank so they don’t get the bends

I’m sure a rockstar employee saw this and appreciates someone noticing all the work that went into the sea.

I can’t really explain why, and i’m sure I’m not alone, but driving around in the sub in this game was one of most unsettling experiences I’ve had in gaming. It feels so very alone. And I didn’t feel scared but it’s the only time as an adult I’ve had any urge to turn on my lights because of what I was playing/watching. Yet I couldn’t stop myself from exploring.

I really hope they take it to at least the same level with gta6.

It's a shame the sea isn't used for basically anything on online. I wish there were animals and other things to do there. Perhaps a DLC focused on the sea.

Underwater exploration is one of the underrated parts of the game, amount of detail and secrets they put inside of the ocean is crazy.

The Infinity 8 killer bodies really threw me back to 2014 when there all those gta investigators trying to put it all together. Great video!

Something I find interesting is how the plane wrecks are treated in game compared to real life. While most smaller craft will generally be left underwater, airliners are almost always brought back up and “reconstructed” in a hangar for investigative purposes

The amount of secrets in this game that haven’t been discovered, still amazes me to this day!

Edit: I’m surprised that everyone is questioning my comment. Sure there aren’t always new discoveries, but why do you think they are discoveries? Cause they we discovered, you don’t always know. It’s not a hard concept to understand.

One thing you forgot to mention is that in the water near Fort Zancudo there is the body of a female with a burlap sack over her head, wearing a gray coat with a black skirt and stockings. Her arms are bound behind her back and her feet are encased in cement, alluding to a mob-related killing, more of a stereotypical way to deal with someone in those old 70s-80s mob movies that Rockstar takes so much inspiration from.

The strange structure @ 5:00 is somewhat unique in that you can swim inside of it. One of the safest places in the entirety of gta online, if you have scuba gear.

I remember back in the 360 days on GTA, there was this glitch that just happens after playing for a while and basically you can just walk underwater as if there was never water in the first place, so I took advantage of it and I just went exploring and I found the hatch. My cousin had told me it was also from Lost. Coolest find

5:23 - Could be a diving chamber for saturation divers working on the site.
Instead of surfacing after each shift and risking "The bends" divers instead stay in these pressurized capsules.

(check out *The Byford Dolphin accident* for what happens if things go wrong when you're in one of these things. It's not pretty)

The nuclear submarine at 6:31 is definitely the Akula submarine irl. And for those people who think it's a Ramius, well the Ramius is based off the Typhoon in real life, which has a wider hull than both the Akula and Delta (Kosatka ingame) compared.

The thing underwater that you think looks like an oil rig is probably based on a hyperbaric chamber, which is a small living quarters that sits on the ocean floor so divers can stay underwater for long periods of time to weld and maintain deep sea pipelines, they stay underwater for extended periods of time to avoid decompression stops

4:23 That's a Soviet made tank turret which has an 85 mm cannon. It was used in WWII on the T-34 and KV-1 chassis'. You can find a whole T-34-85 (T-34 hull with this turret) at the scrap yard near the Maze Bank arena. What's also interesting, is that in the waters surrounding the Cayo Perico island featuerd in the same game (and also around the Humane Labs), you can find a shipwreck with German WWII era Panzer II tank wrecks. There seems to be a lot of WWII era military equipment on and around the islands which seems to point to the islands being a point of interest for both the allied and axis forces in WWII.

I have a somewhat realistic theory about the Fly US 747. It could have been a plane purposely dropped into the water. Sometimes old planes (like the Boeing 747) are dropped in water purposefully to build environments for marine life. Explaining why no one talks about it as it was just a minor project off the coast of Paleto Bay.

Edit: The reason why it got broken up so much probably could have been because the “sinking” was poorly executed causing it to break apart while they were sinking it,

The research you do on this video is crazy, I didn't even expect that you would name the real life versions of things! Great Work!

I just want to say that the little in-games scenes you made are really cute. Adds a lot of flavour to the video. It also kind of want to make me mess around with the Rockstar Editor again.

6:45 this has actually been done in real life using obsolete or beyond repair military tanks for the sake of creating anchor points for choral to grow on. They remove the mechanical gear and toxic fluids like oil and just dump the tank bodies in the ocean. Works better than tires.
