Russia conducts exercises there every year, but only this year some hysteria of the West began. The West used the exercises as bait so that the viewer would eat it as Russian aggression.

In the Orenburg region, at the Donguz training ground, just 70 km from the border with Kazakhstan, Russia conducts military exercises twice a year. But the West does not consider this a threat to Kazakhstan. When Russia conducts exercises 300 km from the border with Ukraine, it is aggression.

This is something that should be able to be worked out. How about NATO stays out of Ukraine, Russia & Ukraine pull back ALL forces from boarder. Get those poor troops out of those cold wretched trenches, and let them go home to their families. Fill in the trenches and open the boarders to trade & travel. Many people need to be able to go back and forth between the two countries and some of them are elderly. Much more can be gained from mutual exchange of commerce and friendship than war.
