Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we continue working on the notification logic for our twitter clone. We left off with only new posts notifications, so we add logic to notify users when their posts are liked, replied to, reposted and bookmarked. Then we also setup the ability to send notifications to users when they are followed. Finally we setup a new Notification controller to allow users to acknowledge that they have read their notifications as well as fetch their unread notifications that they missed while they were offline.
