southeast asian salmon soup

I’m not really sure what to call this but it’s definitely in the realm of Hmong/Lao/Thai food because of the ingredients used. The base of this recipe uses salmon heads and bones which are usually very cheap at the grocery store. It really adds so much flavor to the broth and you can pick off the meat when it’s done cooking. I also know galangal and lime leaves are hard to find, but it really makes a difference in elevating the flavor.

I love doing this! It’s such a great way to save on money too because most people are scared of fish heads. If they’re too fishy just soak in Salk baking soda water for like 10 mins. Rinse and then add do fresh water for stock.

Salmon head is the best fish head anyone could ever have! (Unless you have a different opinion, please recommend XD) I've never had salmon head soup but instead I've had salmon head curry that my mom makes and it's my favorite fish dish!
