About IBS Treatment Center
===========================

Dr. Stephen Wangen, co-founder and Medical Director of the IBS Treatment Center, and his staff have successfully helped over 10,000 people resolve irritable bowel syndrome and chronic digestive problems since 2005.

Some patients have had IBS symptoms so severe that they spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital. Others are suffering alone at home and are no less frustrated with the impact that it is having on their lives. The thread that tied them all together was that they had never seen an IBS expert (much different than a gastroenterologist), a doctor whose only mission is to help people solve IBS.

Thank you this, it was very helpful. Im 44 yrs old, work fulltime, 4 kids youngest at 3. My severe anemia was due to heavy prolonged menstrual bleeding... 6 months straight! My toenails were falling off and i was sniffing rubbing alcohol for months. Just awful. I received a blood transfusion and iron infusion after walking into the er hemorrhaging all morning. Anyways awful story, but i somehow have to maintain this. thank you for this! very helpful!!

Hi thanks for doing this .. Once the blood loss issue is solved, how long do I need to take iron tablet .. I took iron tablets 3 months my ferritin went up to 130 so I stopped taking iron supplements.. After 3 months it dropped back to 60 …

My ferritin was 4, (hemoglobin is normal) and I felt like I was dying. My doctor told me to take iron supplements and I got ferritin up to 11, but then it fell again. My doc isn’t overly concerned, but I am very symptomatic with fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, insomnia, etc. What should I do?

How do we find a doctor that listens! My blood work finally is showing problems, but it's still being ignored! My ferritin was 7ng/ml, but she didn't care because everuthing else was acceptable or just below acceptable. I couldn't sleep last night my legs tingled so bad and I felt drugged! My iron supplement isn't cutting it. And the doc that did these tests? A gastro! I've been seeing her for my chronic intense IBS symptoms. She's not making a correlation to the two at all, but now I hear they could be related!? What does it take to be taken seriously. I'm about to spend every penny I have on Mayo Clinic this month. I am so sick of being sick!

This is an excellent informative video, thank you. I have been transfused for my levels, as they were so low I was passing out etc. not fun. I’ve had 5 transfusions and many, many infusions and I still have problems ongoing. It’s seriously frustrating! I had a friable polyp removed in my stomach that they thought was the cause, but now my levels have dropped again even though they removed this and I take iron with vitamin c daily. I think it’s an absorption issue but I’m not sure and now finally, my Dr is sending me to the Hematologist. I’m worried I have some form of cancer though, it’s always in the back of my mind.

What is the range for ferritin if a person is 18 male & is anemic + thalessimia minor. I'm having my son on Iron polymaltose 370mg with 500mg vitamin C (ascorbic Acid 250mg & Sodium ascorbate 280mg), daily. We started on this some 4 days ago.

Great video. My iron count was recently 1 (it has never been over 35 since adulthood) and has always been borderline but over the past 6 years it has steadily declined.

I take a liquid elemental iron twice daily, per dr’s approval as my recent lab work showed my iron count to be 1. Yep, just 1.

Is there anyway to get the iron stores up quickly? My dr thinks that there are too many risks with getting an IV or iron injection, but I don’t think she understands how severe my fatigue is.

My ferritin is at 26 but my TIBC is low at 241.. if I understand correctly, low TIBC indicates high amounts of iron in the blood, while ferritin indicates low iron storage. My doctor is totally confused and is saying I shouldn’t supplement with iron even with my terrible fatigue, dizziness, brain fog and shortness of breath. What is the typical cause of low TIBC along with low ferritin? It’s scary to me because I don’t believe I am losing blood. My ferritin was at 47 around a year ago and has now dropped to 26. I just want to feel better :(

Currently getting iron infusions for low ferritin, can the cause for low ferritin be to other reasons other than a gut issue ?

Hi Dr,
I have been taking iron supplements for almost 2 years for my low ferritin. my ferritin was 5, then 8, and last year 35. after a year, now my ferritin is still 35. its not increasing despite taking iron supplements 325mg. However, my hb has increased from 13.5 to 15. I don't have heavy menstrual history. my vit d infact increased to 56. what causing low ferritin. my doctor is not considering this a serious issue and said you can get pregnant but I know that low ferritin causing pre term labour in me. I have 2 kids with low ferritin levels just bc I don't have enough ferritin in my body.

Hi Dr. Is anemia the same as having Hypoferremia?

This is a great video. What about when you’re iron-deficiency anemic because of heavy periods? But your hemoglobin level is pretty normal (12) and ferritin is low (31).

Can b12 injections decrease your ferritin stores? My serum iron was 90 and after taking so many injections, after 20 days, it came to 29. Transferrin saturation is 9% which is low too. Ferritin is 33. I am now taking 100 mg elemental iron.
