Irving (Christian Bale from The Dark Knight and American Psycho) confronts Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence). He discovered that Rosalyn is having an affair with Pete Musane. Irving is angry at her because she mentioned her belief that Irving is working with the IRS. It caused Pete to threaten Irving.

What’s the American Hustle movie about?
Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale from The Dark Knight and American Psycho) dabbles in forgery and loan-sharking, but when he falls for an equally cunning and seductive Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams from First Arrival and Man of Steel), things change in a big way. Irving and Sydney are forced to work undercover for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper from Very Bad Trip and A star is born), as part of a sting operation to nail a New Jersey mayor (Jeremy Renner from The Avengers and The Hurt Locker) Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Meanwhile, Irv's jealous wife (Jennifer Lawrence from Passengers and Serena) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Based on the 1970s Abscam case.
