In this video, we will rank and explore Ellen Burstyn's ten greatest movies. One of the great actresses of her generation, Ellen Burstyn has proven time and time again over the years why she deserves to be considered a legend of not only the screen, but also the stage too. And that’s because each and every time she appears on either, she always delivers a performance worthy of the audience's time and attention.

Take her work in Peter Bogdanovich’s classic 1971 coming of age tale The Last Picture Show for example. There she absolutely shines every time she pops up. And then there’s her additional work in movies like 1973’s horror classic The Exorcist, 2000’s nightmarish drama Requiem for a Dream, and of of course 1974’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, the latter off which saw her win an Academy Award for best actress in a leading role.

Even in the current day, Ellen Burstyn still remains as strong as ever. And we’re not just talking about her recent stage work in the likes of Picnic and Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, both of which saw her get a chance to flex her acting muscles on Broadway. No, television has also been a regular landing spot for her as of late. And this can be seen in her work in the likes of the FX comedy series Louie, Netflix’s political drama House of Cards, and Showtime’s The First Lady where she plays the role of Sara Roosevelt, mother of former US president Franklin D. Roosevelt.

There's an Ellen Burstyn movie nobody ever heard of, but I saw it in 1978 and it changed my life. A Greek movie; "Kravgi Gynaikon:" ("A Dream of Passion, ") shot in Greece, starring Melina Mercouri and Ellen Burstyn. It's about two Medeas: one an actress playing the classic role of the woman who kills her children because their father was unfaithful, and the other.a woman who actually did it. I leave it to you to learn which one Burstyn played. I've never been able to find this film, but I was galvanized to go to art school because of it.

You missed one of her great ones: The Spitfire Grill. Just a beautifully acted and photographed movie about second chances. The score is excellent, too.
