I have only needed to borrow money 1 time from a friend. It was for a quick lunch, left the wallet at home. The next week I paid the man back double the money he let me borrow.

Here’s my take on lending money to “friends”:

If a bank wouldn’t lend that person money, (s)he may not be creditworthy.
So, whenever people ask me for my hard-earned money, I would normally politely tell them I’m not a professional lender, but that I might be able to point them to somebody in that field.

Or, instead of lending money, let’s call it what it really is: unregistered charity. In which case, should you choose to lend money to anybody, only lend what you can afford to lose.

This is a lesson I actually had to learn the hard way before.
