Businesses don't fail. People fail. Lack of knowledge causes failure.

I own two motels. One 80 room, one 120 room. I run both with around 6 employees each. Clear about 20-30k a month total and don't have to lift a finger myself. They're great businesses.

Well, props to my mum then for starting a restaurant in a small town. And 20 years later it’s still here, got a home paid off and the building and is hers. Proud 👌

Some businesses ain't about money but serving the community. And in return they'll somehow survive. Those are businesses that need to exist.

100% correct. I worked in a big box store for 5 years. hint: it was either blue or orange- you guess which. I got to see EVERY opening monday- the numbers for the previous week. all in, 60% of their cost is from 2 things: merchandising & shrink. of the 200 employees for ONE store- 180 of them spend MOST of their time, stocking, restocking & otherwise moving merchandise around the store- including building displays of new products. a HUGE amount of that 60% is shrink- basically theft. this format will soon die out- replaced by buyer's clubs like costco. why? they spend 90% LESS man-hours merchandising. 2nd- it's not open to the general public- IT'S A CLUB.... WITH a membership card, checked a the door. if they even suspect that you're thief? you're OUT. problem solved. online stores like amazon? HOME RUN. profitability through the roof. shrink & merchandising? non-existent. better profit margins, lower prices- badda bing.

These days everyone has an opinion even if they speak rubbish.

I have literally seen small restaurant owners over the course of time expand the restaurant massively, then buy multiple properties. It all comes down to good management.

There's really no such thing as a good or bad business. Only good or bad management. If you know how to work it, it can be a goldmine for the right owner. And. lol. Hotels aren't the only business where your customer requires your help 24/7.

My dad ran a successful restaurant for 32 years. He was not a trained chef but he knew how to make good food and we had a a great clientele. One thing about owning a restaurant is that's is a hard work and everyone in the family will have to pitch in their time and energy into it and it's a lot of hard work.

My family owns a menswear retail chain. Like any other type of businesses you just need to learn how to crack the code and create a successful business model. After doing that, the machine starts working on its own and is basically a money printer.
