I absolutely love my power-play. The best purchase I’ve made in a while. I like having it in the back of my head with the top strap because I feel that it balances the goggles on my head.

Isn"t this getting kind of out of hand? now you buy HDO2, Rapidfire, Powerplay, Antennas.

I would have never thought DJI would be price competitive while also bringing better performance

looks pretty slick. Can I use with the skyzone 03o goggle. Not worried about using it for the goggle battery replacement . Just want to see if I get a better recording with the 030s and it would be easier to use in a quad down situation where you have to find it. thanks. Also does it require antennas or it just takes a feed off the goggles.

If anyone is looking for new goggles, the Fatshark Scouts have this same 60FPS DVR built in. Same video quality, same interface, all built into the headset.

It's a good start, but I rarely use mine because it has a pile of flaws I discovered:
- The deinterlacing method is very basic - it separates the fields and duplicates each line, resulting in footage that jumps up/down by a single pixel every other frame. Try watching some footage on YouTube from it at 0.25 speed.
- It crops the edges and resizes that cropped frame back up to 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL), which then adds some artificial sharpening into the image, making bright edges round objects such as trees against the sky.
- It doesn't balance charge the cells when charging from USB, I once measured mine when charging and discovered one was at 4.35v and the other at 4.05v, so I immediately pulled the USB plug and only charge the cells with a 18650 charger+spacers.
- It doesn't charge the cells or output voltage for the goggles when a powered USB cable is connected and is turned on.

they need to switch to 18650's and add the step up regulator like furiousfpv did with their smart case v2. It makes a huge difference it battery life. i was wondering right away why your video is recorded in 60fps till i saw the dvr lol looks pretty sweet

I'm actually pretty stoked on this piece of kit and will be buying one for sure. Thanks for the great video as always!

I’ve been wonting to try a bit of long range but was always to scared due to the loosing my drone factor, and trying to find it through my hdo’s. This looks like the answer I’ve been looking for. Thanks for the great review 👍

I have this DVR and it is great. It records in 720 x 576 (if you are using a PAL camera) at 50 frames per second (60 with NTSC), while the FatShark DVR records 640 x 480 with only 25 (resp. 30 for NTSC) frames per second. I have put my ImmersionRC DVR on a separate ground station with an extra receiver and antenna. Of course this is some extra money, but you get better results than from the receiver in the goggles. I use the blue 18500 batteries that came with the DVR, but I don’t power anything else from the DVR. They seem to last a very long time if they only need to power the DVR.

Have a bunch of 18650s for my fatsharks. Would consider this only if it used same battery. Even the new Xlite comes with extended handles to use 18650. Why not this??

My thoughts exactly! I find the Powerplay very useful, with the only drawbacks being battery life (extra batteries help) and the cables being a little... let's call them "budget"! 😉 Like you, I mount my Powerplay in the same spot at the Fatshark batteries usually go, without issues. Tried the battery-in-the-pocket thing, but never got used to it.

I see that the OSD menu on this product is exactly the same as my Fatshark Scout goggles (it looks like the same firmware). The Scout DVR also records at 60fps, but the Scout records in MJPEG, and this product records in h264. This is actually a good thing, because I love my Scout DVR, and this product enables you to add it to whatever goggle you choose!

I do really like mine. I set my recording to auto which then encourages me to always turn on and off the goggles between flights. Something I'm not always as quick about without it. So only having the goggles on while flying has actually helped me extend the battery life while flying. Plus I don't have to worry about remembering to manage the DVR in the Fatsharks. So even though the battery is smaller, it lasts me just as long because I'm more conscious of making sure to turn the goggles off immediately after every flight.

For the down side, by far my biggest issue has been the goggles rebooting when I turn on the fan. It doesn't happen every time, but it does happen sometimes. I'm really scared to turn on the fan now while using these to power my goggles. I've been flying, had my goggles fogging. clicked the fan and had the goggles shut off. Luckily I was close enough that I was able to see the quad and line of sight it back home, but that could be disasterous. How many times have we been flying in a race and asked a spotter to click the fan for us while it's starting to fog? So far I would say I've had this happen about 10-20% of the time I click that button, I'm curious if others have had the issue as well...

One thing i was wondering that you didn't cover is if you loose power for whatever reason and your recording do you loose the footage your recording, thanks bro great review 👍👍

Hey Nurk. What’s your final verdict on DJI FPV. I know you were blown away but you have not been using it during your long range flights or for racing. Is DJI just another fad in your opinion?

Awesome 👏 I like 60fps no matter SD HD or 4K

My biggest problems with it are that the supplied batteries that come with it are trash, and just that the holster doesn't fit my big sexy 2" HotDogFPV goggle strap. Its designed for the original Fatshark goggle strap (or any typical 1" wide strap). I ran the long cable and just have it sitting in my cargo short pocket usually. I might have to try holster on the neck strap idea!

Seems like it would be quite easy to mod it with a pigtail to use a large capacity 2s that you could keep in a pocket with the long wire.

I'd be happy with a standard DVR with a working time stamp. My ultimate would be one that I could add a receiver to so it only recorded when my quad is armed.
