We found some footage that was shot driving down 20th street in Joplin from August 2010. We re-shot the same footage today. The difference is amazing.

My teacher was in the tornado with his wife and 2 kids, all of them were unharmed but when he dropped of his wife and children he went to wrecked areas the tornado passed by and started to help everyone he could. Just a story like this really makes u think what would have happened if it were something worst or if it reached more of Missouri and just how devastating it was. When I first started hearing about the tornado I watched a lot of people's story and how they survived, I started to cry after seeing what had happened to Joplin and I one day I wish I could volunteer to help rebuild Joplin after what they went through.

I saw a lot of footage on Joplin but this puts disasters into perspective.  Thanks Carter.

Why do people just ignore the descriptions? One person below "calls bs" because the stoplights are different, tree lines are different, etc., and concludes the "before" video must be from YEARS before. Um… the description clearly states it was taped in August 2010, which puts it nine months before the tornado hit. It could be older, but why lie about a thing like that?

Greetings to all.
I was in Joplin on Aug. 24. I saw how Joplin was restored. I did noticed some empty lots, and noticed how big of an area that tornado covered. I also noticed a small town like 20 min West of Joplin that got hit by a Tornado. Based on what I saw, there were alternate home damages. It appeared like if a tornado skiped buildings. Any input? I am from South Texas and thought hurricanes were bad, but a totnado? God keep you all safe. Blessings.

I hope they didn't bulldoze down the surviving trees that began to sprout again. Not a treehugger, but in a sense, it shows that they, too, were heavily battered and bruised, like the whole town was that day, but just like the community, they survived, and they aim to flourish once again. But I'm sure they did (or most of them anyway)....
