I was one of the actors in this episode and I gotta say it was an honor to dance for Dhar Mann Studios. I could actually relate to this like people said I couldn’t make it as a dancer but I never gave up. Everyone in the cast did so amazing and it was so much fun working with them. :)

Moral of the story: Parents should allow their children to follow their passions as long as such passions are positive.

Same thing happened with me when I was 5 years old. My father won't let me to play with boys. I was not allowed to cut my hair and talk to men excluding my father and brother. After my period started he won't let me go anywhere I wanted. When I was 18 he started finding boys for me. My marriage was fixed. But I left house. Now I am 25 an engineer living in India. Have my own house. Thanks Dhar mann for uploading this masterpiece

The way this is literally hitting home. I literally don’t even have anything I’m passionate abt because everything was shut down because being a doctor and lawyer is the way to go. Now I’m an indecisive person who can’t do anything on her own🤷🏾‍♀️

This story rather hit home. When I was in high school all I wanted to be when I grew up was an artist. My parents wouldn't let me go to college for it, my mother said she refused to be mother to a starving artist. They made me believe I wasn't good enough. I ended up eloping 6 weeks after my 18th birthday. I finally went to college for art when I was 45. I wasn't able to make a career out of it but I loved it. I'm in my sixties now and semi-retired. Thinking seriously about picking up my paint brush again.
To all you young young people, don't give up on your dreams. I wish I had the courage to fight harder when I was 18.

Talking about judging a book by its cover! Thank you Dhar Mann for another inspiring message!

As an Indian, this is so true. People are always judging our culture. And parents just never let us do ANYTHING

This video is relatable. I participate in an Indian dance called Bharatanatyam, and I was doing it for my school talent show. In reality, I believe the style is hard as your knees have to be bent all the time, and you have to jump down and up and spin while remembering the choreo, keeping the beat, and making it look easy. Not only that but the costume is 5 parts and there are more than 10 pieces of jewelry on your head. That school was an all-girls, uniform school and people stared at me when I entered that day wearing all the head jewelry and a full face of makeup. People stared as I walked in, and I had many encounters of people asking me if it was for a religion, some girl even said "Is that part of your Hindu religion?". People were saying this because my dad is full Indian, while my mom is from Texas, but I have pale skin. It was shamed that a "white" girl was doing this, they didn't even know my dad was Indian, because they were just looking at the color of my skin. Not only that but my sister was doing the same thing. She was much tanner, and much better at me at the style of dance, if not for her, they wouldn't have given me a spot because she was better. The announcers went as far as to not say the name of the dance because it was "too hard to pronounce" even though the name was straight forward, and I had explained to them how to say it. After I had explained to enough people I was part Indian, the rumors circulating to me stopped, about a "white girl" disrespecting an Indian dance style. The truth of Bharatanatyam is, anyone can do it. All you have to have is commitment.

Growing up in a South Asian household, I have experienced so many similar incidents in my life, So many obstetrical. The family let alone parents don't care about the psychological needs of a child, they just want success and reputation among relatives and society. Thanks to Dhar Mann for bringing up this topic!

Wow Dhar. That was a very inspiring story and blew my mind away. I'm happy that you are going for real-life stories so that people will truly believe that if they continue to follow their passions, they will always be successful. Keep on doing real life stories and let people know to always chase their dreams.

I love how relatable this is. As far as I know, Indian parents may feel disappointed for a while, but they will always be with you, and never hold a grudge because they trust their kids so much, and even if her dad was mad at some point, he always came back. Such a great message.

1 thing I like about this channel is that dhar mann works sooo hard and he put Indian references in the video. As an Indian myself it’s very accurate
