If you are feeling brave/dumb enough to ignore everything I said here, for the love of god DO NOT GO ON OTHER PEOPLES SERVERS. It gives them access to your computer.

Edit: I have had it explained to me how they actually work however I stand by the video itself in that only people who know what they are doing should mess with this stuff, there is alot of risk involved and if it ever gains enough traction hoyo WILL go after it. Not an if, only a when. So just be very very careful with this stuff.

To clarify:

1: You will not get banned on official servers for simply using private servers. (With some misconfiguration, maybe you can, but we have yet to encounter people getting banned as not a single person has gotten banned for using private servers.) The reason being, you're essentially tricking the game client to connecting to your own servers but telling the game it's official. They cannot tell whether you're connecting to official servers, or on unofficial servers, at least not at the moment. Sure, the argument of "they can add checks" may be valid, but they don't do those at the moment.

2: They are not "cracked" version of Genshin. "Cracking" a game or a program usually means bypassing the paywall, NOT recreating official servers. I think you've gotten them mixed up with "Modified Clients", which are cheats/modified versions of the client, NOT the server, and playing on them WILL get you banned, as you're actually connecting to official servers in this case.

I have pointed out several clarifications here but for the most part, you are correct in everything else.

Whilst no one has any evidence of getting banned using a private server, it is still a DO AT YOUR OWN RISK type of thing, as you never know when they'll add checks. And for the love of god, please don't confuse private servers with game modifications, these 2 are completely separate things.

I recommend not indulging in private servers...but this is excellent for game preservation hence I support the project.

its always morally correct to steal and reverse engineer and make private servers of games that exist just to enable gambling addiction

The only time I have heard of a company taking action of a private server.
Was when millions of parents complained to Disney, about their kids were being targeted on a Club Penguin private server. Long after the original Club Penguin got shut down.

And if I remember right, the only thing that happened was that the hosts got sued, and all the other club penguin private servers removed the word "Disney" in the game.

If you run a private server and mask your IP, your computer specs (hardware/software) staying the same might allow Hoyoverse to track you down. It’s interesting that some private server videos run the Android version of Genshin.

I think it would be cool if there was a more offical/ safe version of this, like a genshin sandbox, or almost like a creative mode. It could be cool to have all the items in your teapot and take pictures, or test out team comps, or fight a thousand boars. Most of the people using these private servers probably just want to mess around and experiment, but obviously mhyo can’t risk their stuff getting stolen. Many games have mods for this reason, just cause people want to mess around, so i think having this little sandbox could maybe quell players in between updates and new stuff.

"your main genshin account will be banned" - there's no one who's been banned from this yet. HOWEVER now mihoyo is aware of it and will probably implement a feature to ACTUALLY ban private server users, so this isn't too bad of a point

"other companies can reverse engineer the game and steal assets from it" - that's illegal lol

not as bad as other private server PSAs though, good job on not saying it's malware.

It would be illegal for MHY or any game company to know that you are connecting to a private server. What is happening is the traffic from the game only talks to the private server and vice versa.

I regret having had already touched it, I touched it back in May since I wanted to see which characters could fit in my current team and try out Kazuha. After logging in, I did what I intended to do but I later messed with commands like teleport to this area which I won’t really explain further. I’ve deleted the files for the private server last month but the fear of being banned still lingers in my mind. It was a dumb move that I’ve done out of curiosity.

Private servers host a server in your own computer, and yes you can play offline so, YOU WILL NOT GET BANNED it's literally impossible. (Atleast for pc, not really sure about mobile)

Every thing has 2 side
For me personally, I love that private server exist
The reason is if one day Genshin shut down because of whatever reason, people can still access it via private server

I literally have 0 idea why are people saying that you'll get banned for playing on a private server, like what's the connection? There are hundreds of private servers for World of warcraft, clash of clans, ecc and no one got banned while playing on retail version, if genshin somehow knows that you've been playing on a pserver and bans you for that i'll be more concerned about mihoyo knowing whatever the fuck i have installed on my pc rather than the ban.

So wouldn’t this be in worse hands of the people who “know what they’re doing”? I mean I’d there was a way to use the private servers to check damage calcs or theory craft, cool. But I can’t imagine anyone (outside of the reason you mentioned it’s bad for code stealing) using this for anything more sinister than the people giving us 500ft Hillichurl videos.

I mean I already knew that they were sus anyways when it first started. Like I dont have a pc, so there's no way that I would do a private server....but even if I did have a pc, it is still sus to even do it cuz there's this underlying feeling that something bad would happen

1:25 This point is valid... Until you realize that the 'Private Server' redirects ALL the traffics that your client would normally send to Hoyoverse servers to it. Not only that, you HAVE to create a new offline account on your server as you cannot use your "Legit" account on there. You can literally disconnect your internet and play on the server.

It was funny to see the videos that showed weird interactions and the craziness within the game.

🌸😹I did not even know that “Private Servers” for mobile titles was earnestly a “thing”, but I have always avoided them as a matter of practice and distrust.😹🌸

I would like for genshin to make private servers part of the actual main screen or something where you could theory craft on your own much more easily. Like how in bloons td6 you have a sandbox mode where you have infinite lives and infinite cash and can buy anything and send out any bloon.

Nah thats kind of hard to believe, Mihoyo cant know if you've logged onto a private server since it is PRIVATE (not owned by mihoyo), unless Mihoyo asked their employees to make private servers, like a trap of some sort lol
