Thank you! The OXO instructions and their YouTube video were worthless. "This is the principle behind and this is how to do it." made the light go on. Now making chili.

Thank you for the simplisticly clear expiration of how to use this opener. I consider myself very mechanical, but could not figure out how this thing works. Your video was a godsend.

Thank you! I’m saving your video so I can get to it quickly every time I have to use this can opener!

Thanks for this. I just used one for the first time. I used the opener correctly, but since there are no obvious signs showing it's working (as opposed to a traditional opener and the gap it creates) I hadn't realized the can had been cut. I knew it was a simple things but since I didn't know what to look for, decided to watch your video.

Thank you. Yesterday I should have looked. I had a extra large can of tomatoes. I ended up using the can opener blade in my multi tool which was not easy or safe. Now I know what to do on next can

What I as doing wrong was not squeezing the handles together tightly. Thanks for your excellent demo.

I haven't used this particular smooth-edge, side-cutting can opener, but I've used a different brand for many years. This particular Oxo model with the grip-closure handles looks superior, giving a more positive hold on the can, with the serrated gripper wheel on the inside of the rim, not on the top edge of the rim. The ones that place the serrated steel gripping wheel on the top edge of the rim can generate very fine "hairs" of metal when their gripper wheels lose traction and spin.

I'm not sure how useful the "pliers" are, though. The cheaper side-cutting can opener I have doesn't have any "pliers", so all I've ever done is use all five of my fingertips spread evenly around the severed lid and pulled straight upward to remove the lid. The prying motion of the Oxo pliers looks awkward, and as your first video showed, can cause spillage. Using one hand to hold the base of the can on the countertop and the other hand to grip the edge of the lid and pull straight upward seems more sensible to me.

I understand that someone with arthritis or otherwise limited strength or movement in their hand might need the pliers, so it's great that Oxo included the pliers. But I think for most people, just pulling the severed lid straight upward with the fingers will easily remove the lid with less hassle.

Thank you for the informative videos and the diagrams!

Hi and thanks for the second demonstration video for the XOX Smooth Can Opener.

I bought the this can opener last year. I paid more than I usually would because I really liked the look and fell of it.

Your video was spot on. Your detailed description on how to operate the opener and how a can is made was very informative.

Thanks for sharing video and also thanks to your wife for encouraging you to do a second video to make sure that users have a better understanding on this product.

thanks again
I was one of those customers who decided to throw it away; because I couldn't figure out how to use it.

Well, because I paid more than usual and I still liked the look and feel of it, I decided to hang on to it until

I hadn't use one that open from the outside so I wasn't entirely sure. I figured out how to use it but was skeptical. Thanks for the explanation :) The tool is very sharp and operates very, very smoothly.

I was gifted my in a white elephant gift exchange and thought it didn’t work. As a last ditch effort before throwing it away, I decided to check your video out! I’m glad I did!

I think what is not emphasized is that it seems you have to open the handles before placing it onto the lid, then squeeze them together to initiate cutting.

Thank you!!! I could not figure it out. Yes, I was considering throwing it out. I'm also wondering if I have any partially opened cans sitting in my pantry that I tried it on and I thought nothing was happening. I kept looking at the claw and thought it must do something, but I could not figure out what. How did you learn how to do it?
