Writing about Bowen Theory for a Popular Audience

Kathleen Smith, PhD, LPC is a faculty member at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, and an author and therapist in private practice in Washington, DC.

Is it possible or useful to translate the ideas of Bowen theory into everyday language? In her presentation, "Writing about Bowen Theory for a Popular Audience", Dr. Smith will talk about how she created a book about theory for a popular audience. She will also explore how the practice of writing can help a person calm down and grow up in a relationship system.

The Bowen Center is a non for profit dedicated to the development of Bowen family systems theory into a science of human behavior; to assist individuals, families, communities, and organizations in addressing major life changes through understanding and improvising human relationships.

The center carries out its mission locally, nationally, and internationally through training and online programs, conferences, research, clinical services, and its website and publications. The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family is an educational, research, and clinical center incorporated as a 501©(3) tax-exempt organization in the District of Columbia.
