Something we Brits do "par excellence" is sans pastry pies & casseroles. Shepherds/cottage/fish pie, stovies (I'm Scottish & wont hear a word against them), lobscouse...etc. Still remember that Lanc Hot Pot that Nigel Haworth did on Great British Menu - the best cooking show on telly. It was a thing of beauty. Let's just say if I had the hot pot that Nigel made, I wouldn't push the Fallow one out of bed - it would be a Northern, meaty ménage à trois.
