It makes me wonder and appreciate cultural norms that how different they are with different societies. I am from India and in my culture not only we are not allowed to marry blood relative but there's a thing called 'Gotra' which is like your ancient ancestral lineage. If you share the same Gotra with someone you are not allowed to marry no matter even if you are not blood relative. It says that the people of same 'Gotra' are brothers and sisters. On the other hand there are cultures where you can marry your own cousins. The world is a beautiful place with so many diversities.

Actually In South India cross-cousin marriages are allowed in Hindu Families. As long as you share different gotras it is allowed.
(But they are still highly prone to genetic disorders, different lineages do not really help in this regard)

In fact in Hindu scriptures (Bodhayana Dharma Sutra, if you have ever heard of it) cousin marriages are allowed among Hindus in Southern Plains as an exception. anybody else from other parts of country who attempts to marry a cousin is boycotted by the society.
